Wood block print making_01, 2011

This is the final artwork.

After the first colour is dried, print with the second block and dry these prints completely.

Print with the first block with using process #11 -13. You should start from PALER colour.

You should give some moistures to sheets of printing paper. Use wet towels or newspapers for it.

Trial prints of two blocks. Check combination of colours and shapes and adjust them if you need.

Repeat the same process for the second block.

Set a piece of paper at two guide parts strictly, and print with a barren carefully.

Put a colour on the first block.

Do not soak a brush for boards in colour directly to avoid to put too much paint on board, if not, details of design will be lost.

Prepare and check colours.

Wet the BOTH sides of the wood block to avoid it bends. You have to keep the board moist during printing process.

Now the second block has been carved.

Carve the second block. Do not forget two guide parts.

Carve the first block with various chisels.

Carve two guide parts (called as "kento 見当" in Japanese) at first. This is the most important parts of multi-coloured print.

Copy the design on the another block too.

Copy the design and guides on a wood block with carbon paper. Do not forget turn the design sheet over.

Trace the design and guides on a sheet of tracing paper.

Tools and materials. you need pens, pencils, papers, a sheet of tracing paper and a carbon sheet too.
